Do you feel uncomfortable in your own home? Are there cold drafts in the winter, or hot spots and high humidity in the summer? Do your kids constantly feel sick at home, but better when they’re away?
You’re not alone! These are extremely common problems for homeowners in Virginia. But the solutions are not always clear. There are endless myths about home comfort and indoor air quality, and these myths often lead people to make expensive upgrades to their HVAC systems that do nothing to solve the problems they’re dealing with.
Air Resolutions does things differently. We’ve performed hundreds of home energy audits and indoor air quality reviews in the Richmond area, and we’ve come to the conclusion that there are three weak areas in a home:
If you focus on improving these three areas, you will see a dramatic improvement in your overall comfort, indoor air quality, home safety, and energy efficiency. Our services center on these three key areas and provide permanent solutions to home comfort and indoor air quality concerns.
Our Philosophy
The Air Resolutions team has over 30 years of experience in the home performance and HVAC industries. Over the years, we’ve learned two very important lessons that we apply to every project.
Custom Solutions Tailored to YOUR Home
No two homes are the same, no two families are the same, and no two solutions can ever be the same! We start every project with a free, no-obligation consultation so we can listen to your concerns and investigate the unique challenges you’re experiencing in your home. Then, we design a custom plan tailored to your specific home, needs, and budget.
Siloed Solutions Don’t Work—Your House Is a Complete System
Every system in your house—from your attic and crawl space to your HVAC equipment and air ducts—interacts with one another, which means you can’t view them as separate entities; you have to look at the big picture. If you don’t take the entire house into consideration when making changes, you will end up putting a bandaid on the problem instead of solving it for good. We’re interested in permanent solutions that eliminate the source of the problems you’re experiencing so that they never return, and we accomplish that by taking a whole-home approach.
Our Team
The air resolutions team is entirely in-house! When you hire us to perform work in your home, you can rest assured that our team will do that work. All of our technicians are trained and employed by Air Resolutions, and we do not subcontract jobs out to other companies or installers.

Chris Joyner
Chris Joyner founded Air Resolutions in 2004. His goal was to start a company that was focused on what he had come to realize were the “big three” problems in most of our homes: attics, air duct systems, and crawl spaces / basements.
In his first year of operations, he continued to participate in many energy efficiency and indoor air quality seminars and programs. At a class on “improving the house envelope and how it will improve the air quality and efficiency of the home,” he met and later began working with Charlie Martin, who at the time was involved in starting and growing the Indoor Air Quality and Energy Efficiency Department at Woodfin Oil. This led to a long working relationship, and Air Resolutions was contracted to perform many indoor air quality and energy efficiency services for Woodfin.
Chris’s background and industry accreditations:
- Eight years (1989-1997) in the United States Coast Guard
- Supervisor with a local residential indoor air quality firm

- Certified Indoor Environmentalist of the IAQA (Indoor Air Quality Association)
- BPI Envelope & Building Analyst Certified Professional (Building Performance Institute)
- Founding partner of Richmond Region Energy Alliance (RREA)
- Honeywell Authorized Weatherization Contractor
